A native of Southern California, Dr. Foltz attended the University of Southern California for both his undergraduate and graduate studies, graduating first in his class from the prestigious USC School of Dentistry in 1977. With multiple academic awards to his credit, Dr. Foltz pursued his career in oral maxillofacial surgery by completing his residency at the Los Angeles County USC Medical Center. Two years later, he was Board Certified by the American Board of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery.

In 1980, he joined Dr. Robert Shuken, his partner of 30 plus years in private practice and today the practice includes two offices; one in the San Fernando Valley and one in Agoura Hills.  Committed to the concept that advancing technology and clinical expertise are key to quality care, Dr. Foltz was part of the first class of oral surgeons in the U.S. to be trained in the newest applications in implant dentistry.  Traveling to Canada in 1984 and then to Sweden, Dr. Foltz trained directly with the recognized world pioneer in this field, Professor Per-Ingvar Brånemark. Recognizing the life-changing impact of modern implant dentistry for patients, Dr. Foltz and his partner founded the Center for Restorative Oral Surgery at Valley Presbyterian Hospital, the first implant center of its kind in the United States.

His commitment to education in this unique field of dentistry continues today with the recent establishment of the Center for Advanced Education by Dr. Foltz and his partner. In addition to teaching at USC, Dr. Foltz has lectured locally and nationally, currently he is an Examiner for General Anesthesia Licensure, appointed by the State of California, and is an active member in good standing of a number of professional organizations.

In his free time Dr. Foltz enjoys spending time with his family traveling, sailing, scuba diving, and skiing.
